with mango is known in Malay as Pelong Licin. It is found in Malaysia, Indonesia,
Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Its fruit and its seeds are edible after cooking. Its timber is weak but still
used locally for certain applications. It also abundantly produces an oil that
is used for skin conditions.
P. motleyi is a large tree that can reach up to 50 m tall and 70 cm in
diameter, with a spreading canopy and slender buttresses. The outer bark is
grey-brown and scaly, while the inner bark is pink and produces a whitish sap
when cut.
